About

RARE Real Art and Research for Everyone is a project that brings together researchers, artists and audiences. In this project, art can be an outcome of research, a way to share thinking or a medium through which to communicate research findings.

A key value in this work is to connect audiences and researchers through high-quality art experiences and to make sure that art created connects with and influences research rather than just being used to illustrate ideas or beautify data.

This project is for everyone, researchers from all disciplines and at all levels and diverse audiences.

This project is led by Dr Jane Conway (Psychology, University of Galway) and Dr Lucy Elvis (Philosophy, University of Galway,)

The pilot phase of this project has been funded by the President’s office, University of Galway.

Exhibitions

Our programme of exhibitions runs across the year. It is a diverse mix of exhibitions that share research outcomes and shows developed with local partners through a strong research base. All our exhibitions are connected to research on campus and free for everyone to see.

Residencies/Open Studio

When not programmed using the gallery space in this way allows students with an artistic practice and local artists to use the gallery space to host conversations with researchers an to test and develop work.

Events/Workshops

Public talks, workshops and events connect artists researchers and our diverse local public.
